| Tutorial
This tutorial will show you the main features of VistaGlance "in action".
At first start VistaGlance quickly indexes your hard drive(s). After your drives are indexed, you can search files. You can search files with Deskbar (a VistaGlance panel with a search input box in the taskbar), with Explorer toolbar (a VistaGlance panel with search input box in Explorer toolbar)
or with Floating Bar (a bar which can be placed anywhere on your screen and called with a hot key). . Just enter your query and press Enter. You will receive results immediately. With Deskbar you search in all indexed folders and drives while with Explorer toolbar you search only in currently opened folder and its subfolders. After the search is completed Results window appears. In this window you can run found programs or open documents, and perform a lot of other operations as well.

Deskbar
When you want to run program, open file or work with document, type its name or even some part of the name into the VistaGlance toolbar in your taskbar and press Enter. You will immediately get the file you need.

Click on ? button in the deskbar to see examples of queries. You can limit your search to folders, to files with given extension, use file masks, show all files with given extension in your PC, and a lot of other things.
To search not all files, but pictures, videos, music or office documents only, click on the button next to ? and select what you need.
You can go to any web site by simply entering their URLs and pressing Enter.
To search not on you local computer, but in the Internet, click on the button next to ? and select one of these search engines to search with: Google , Yahoo! , MSN and Download.com .
Explorer toolbar and relative search
Imagine that you are browsing some folder in Explorer and suddenly you want to find some file in exact this folder or its subfolders.
No problem!
Simply type the name of file you need (or part of it) into VistaGlance Search Box in the Explorer toolbar and press Enter. You will immediately get the file you need.

Floating Bar
The other possibility to run program, open file or find document is to use Floating Bar. When you want to run program, open file or work with document, press Floating Bar hot key (Ctrl+G by default). VistaGlance Floating Bar will appear. Type the name of file or program you need or even some part of the name into the search box and press Enter. You will immediately get the file you need.

Relative search with Floating Bar
You can also perform a relative search with the Floating Bar. To perform the search relative to the current folder right-click on any file or subfolder of this folder and select Search Here item in the context menu appeared. Floating Bar will appear. Enter your query and press Enter. Please note that the next time you call Floating Bar using a keyboard shortcut it will perform not a relative but a full search as usual.

All these query types can be combined together!
For example, such query is possible:
folder1\folder2\folder3\name1 name2.extension\\ -name3 name 4 name 5
You can also add keywords to your queries.
For example, this query is valid:
child photos
where "child" - is a part of filename and "photos" is a keyword.
Using search results
After you entered your query in Deskbar or Explorer toolbar and pressed Enter a window with the search results appears.

Double-click on the desired file to open it
Right-click to show the standard context menu
Detain the cursor above the desired file to get popup window with the file details and possible actions.
Drag and Drop desired file or folder from Results list to any place in your system to physically move it. Hold down Crtl key while dragging to copy file instead of moving it. Drag with right mouse button to show menu of possible actions.
Toolbar options (available in Pro version only)
With the three first buttons in the toolbar of this window you can change the appearance of the results (show only file paths, file names, and file paths, or file names, file paths, and file attributes (like size and last access time)). With the fourth button you can switch Results window into Tree View Mode. Use Sorting button to apply custom sorting. Use Duplicates button to search for duplicated files.
Details window
Detain the cursor above the desired file in Search Results window to get popup window with the file details.
In this window you can also perform standard operations with the selected file: Cut, Copy, Delete, Open parent folder and Paste from clipboard into parent folder. You can also copy the file name or the file path into clipboard. To do this simply click on button near the file name or file path.

You can also make this window not to popup at all. To do this click on Don't show this window link in the bottom of this window. To show this window again, use Options->Show->File Details item in the VistaGlance’s main menu.
You can also "pin" this window to the screen. Pinned window will not disappear unless you minimize main window. To pin this window click on small pin icon in the upper-right conner. To unpin it click on this icon again.
What is keyword?
With VistaGlance you can assign keywords (tags) to files using Explorer context menu and then find these files not only by their names but by their keywords. For example, you can assign keyword "Work" to the file connected with your work and keywords "Photos" and "Nature" to the pictures of beautiful places you have been to. Later when you want to find files connected with your work only you can add the word "Work" to your query. You can use standard queries and keywords in your search at the same time. For example, this query is valid:
child photos
where "child" - is a part of filename and "photos" is a keyword.
Assigning keywords to files
To use keywords in your search queries you should first assign them to your files (folders). Right-click on any file or folder in Explorer (you can select several files and folders as well) and open Keywords submenu. Here you can add new keywords to the selected files (folders), edit and delete existing keywords. You can select several files and folders and assign some keyword to them at once, in one click. You can select several files and folders which already have some keyword and delete or modify it in one click as well.
